The Project (GS4221), developed by FORLIANCE together with InverBosques and Aldea Forestal, adds a new issuance covering vintages 2022 to 2025.
On 28 September 2026, the project received an issuance of 565,544 Verified Emission Reductions (VERs). The credits correspond to vintages 2022 to 2025. This is the fifth issuance for the project, which has been certified under the Gold Standard since 2016.
The project restores degraded land in the department of Vichada, in and around the Bita River basin, across the municipalities of Puerto Carreño, La Primavera and Cumaribo.
It is an afforestation and reforestation (ARR) project managed as a conservation forest, with no timber harvesting. It operates under the Gold Standard Afforestation/Reforestation GHG Emissions Reduction and Sequestration Methodology V2.0.
Each VER issued equals to one tonne of CO₂ equivalent and is only issued following an independent measurement, reporting and verification (MRV) process. The project was first certified in 2016, transitioned to Gold Standard for the Global Goals (GS4GG) in 2019 and was revalidated in 2023. It has completed five verified performance review events.
The project also has growth potential. It can expand its planted area within the boundaries already validated by Gold Standard, which reduces development risk compared with a new project and allows new investors to come on board over time.
The 2025 vintage accounts for 70.5% of the credits in this issuance.
| Vintage | VERs issued |
|---|---|
| 2025 | 398,796 |
| 2024 | 144,924 |
| 2023 | 17,471 |
| 2022 | 4,353 |
| Total | 565,544 |
In addition to carbon sequestration in forest biomass, the project reports 12,595.46 hectares of protected area. Biodiversity monitoring has recorded species classified as threatened by the IUCN in the project areas, such as the puma, the tapir and the giant anteater.
On the social side, the project generates more than 186 jobs and income for neighbouring communities such as La Esmeralda. It has also contributed thru Inverbosques to improvements at the community boarding school, which houses more than 110 students, through the installation of a drinking-water treatment plant, an internet connection and upgraded school furniture.
“This fifth issuance confirms our focus on forests that endure: we have a long-term conservation commitment. These forests would not exist without carbon finance, which made it possible to restore degraded lands, and every credit has undergone independent verification. That is what high integrity means to us: carbon that is retained over time, habitat for biodiversity and opportunities for the communities that live alongside the forest,” said Alejandro Ceballos, CEO of InverBosques.
